hyphenated compound adjectives with "self" as 1st element
A few common examples are:
self-addressed. self-sufficient, self-control, self-respect

Merged compound adjectives

These adjectives are formed from the combination of two different words that are merged. The hyphen is not needed.

merged with the word "some"
a few examples are:
handsome, lonesome, fearsome, wholesome, awesome, troublesome, gruesome

merged with the word "less"
a few examples are:
helpless, hopeless, endless, speechless, meaningless, lifeless, painless, careless, harmless, colorless, effortless, homeless, doubtless

merged with the word "able"
a few examples are:
changeable, noticeable, returnable, payable, reasonable, breakable, countable, replaceable, refundable, adjustable, washable, respectable, believable, enjoyable

merged with verbing form (present participle form) of verbs
a few examples are:
breathtaking, incoming, outgoing, heartbreaking, oncoming, outstanding

a few other common merged compound adjectives without the hyphen are:
ladylike, overgrown, overweight, underweight, upstairs, downstairs, upright, underdeveloped, outdated, underpaid

many adjectives are formed from verbs by adding the suffixes "ish" / "ive" /"al" / "ous" / "ious" / "ical" / "atic" / "ic"
foolish is formed from the noun fool
attractive is formed from the verb attract
additional is formed from the noun addition
dangerous is formed from the noun danger
envious is formed from the verb envy
alphabetical is formed from the noun alphabet
systematic is formed from the noun system
geometric is formed from the noun geometry
