Ordinal numbers are numbers that have the "th"/"st"/"nd"/"rd" written with them.
Pay attention to the ordinal numbers as you read these example sentences.
Belinda lives on the 6th floor. (6th written in words looks like this: sixth)
The students must return the books to the library the latest by the 21st of February. (21st written in words looks like this: twenty-first)
(take note that you must take the last two letters st)
We lived on the ground floor last year, but now we live on the 12th floor.
(12th written in words looks like this: twelfth)
(take note that when you see 2 in 12th, you must not write 12nd, because in words, 12th is twelfth. Therefore, you must take the last two letters th.)
Our office is on the 3rd floor. (3rd written in words looks like this: third)
(take note that you must take the last two letters rd)
Some people do not like to live on the 13th floor as they think 13 is an unlucky number. (13th written in words looks like this: thirteenth)
(take note that when you see 3 in 13th, you must not write 13rd, because in words, 13th is thirteenth. Therefore, you must take the last two letters th.

9th - ninth (do not write nineth) (it's a common spelling error)
19th - nineteenth (correct spelling) ninteenth (incorrect spelling)

20th - twentieth (replace "y" with "ieth")
